Kassym-Jomart Tokayev heard a report on the work on the creation of an academic campus in the city of Konayev.

The President was also informed about the opening of three representative offices of international universities in 2022 and the upcoming establishment of five new branches in 2023.

     In addition, the Minister presented a draft Concept for the development of higher education and science for 2023-2029, which combined all strategic objectives and indicators of the development of the industry.

The Head of State was informed about the increase in salaries of researchers by 2 times and the introduction of direct funding for research institutes engaged in fundamental research. Funding for scientific activities in the next 3 years will be increased by 3.5 times.

       The Ministry plans to gradually increase scholarships for students and undergraduates, as well as annually introduce 10,000 new places in student dormitories for 7 years.

       According to Sayasat Nurbek, the issue of introducing a new model of science administration and creating centers of academic excellence on the basis of 15 regional and 5 pedagogical universities is being worked out.

Following the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out the importance of expanding access to higher education and the development of university infrastructure. He also noted the need to switch to a new model of science administration in the near future.
