In the next three years, 100 thousand Kazakhstani students and users will have the opportunity to study on the Coursera platform. This issue was discussed at the meeting of Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek and Director of the international sector of Coursera Matthew Klein. The meeting was attended by a representative of the regional partner of the educational platform, Rauan Kenzhehanuly.
At the event, the parties discussed the implementation of a trilateral memorandum signed earlier between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry and Coursera.
"Students of 25 universities in the region will be able to study on the Coursera platform. They can choose courses on the platform and take them in Kazakh or Russian. Successfully completed courses are considered credits in higher educational institutions.
Work is already underway to adapt and translate 50 courses.
We believe that cooperation with Coursera will have a positive impact on the potential of Kazakhstani universities," said Sayasat Nurbek.
Coursera is the world's largest educational organization that unites 250 of the world's leading universities and technology giants in order to widely disseminate high-quality education and skills necessary for modern life. It should be noted that the number of Coursera users in Kazakhstan has reached 361 thousand people.
