The educational and methodical activity of the department is carried out in accordance with the curricula of disciplines, the work plan of the department, individual work plans of teachers.
Educational and methodological work is aimed at improving the methodology of teaching disciplines, direct methodological support of the educational process, improving the pedagogical qualifications of the teaching staff and includes:
- Preparation, updating and approval of curricula for specialist training areas
Working curricula of educational programs are compiled on the basis of standard plans and approved by the Academic Council of the Institute.
The curricula are developed using a modular system that allows improving the quality of education, mobility of students, continuity of all levels of education.
Catalogs of elective disciplines (CED) have been developed for the curricula - a component of choice, according to which students have the opportunity to choose a discipline and a teacher. For elective disciplines, curricula have been developed that correspond to the bachelor's degree profile.
Modular educational programs (MEP), the content of elective disciplines are coordinated with employers. Taking into account their opinions and suggestions, adjustments are made to the list and content of disciplines. Thus, the catalog of elective disciplines is updated annually before the beginning of the academic year, taking into account the needs of the labor market.
- Methodological support of disciplines
The educational and methodological complex of disciplines includes standard (or training) programs, working curricula (syllabus), a lecture complex, methodological guidelines for practical classes, laboratory and course work, methodological developments on the organization of independent work of students, a literature supply map, materials for monitoring and evaluating educational achievements.
The quality of preparation of syllabuses, educational and methodological complexes, methodological developments and recommendations on the types of educational activities of students is provided by the collective examination of materials and mandatory approval at a meeting of the department.
All the necessary methodological documentation is issued to students at the beginning of the semester and is available electronically in the folders of teachers in the network environment.
- Conducting methodological seminars at the department
Methodological seminars at the department occupy a prominent place in the system of improving the educational and methodological level of teachers. At these seminars, teachers make presentations on improving the methodological level of teaching disciplines; the development of innovative, interactive technologies; new directions and achievements in the profile of educational programs of the department.
- Mutual attendance of classes by teachers of the department and open classes
In order to improve the methodological and informational support of the disciplines taught, improve the quality of professional skills, transfer advanced pedagogical experience at the department, a schedule is drawn up and a log of mutual attendance of classes by teachers of the department and open classes is kept.
Open classes are held in order to demonstrate the exemplary organization and methods of conducting classes, including using new educational technologies, interactive methods and technical means of teaching.
- Methodological support of production practices
The main provisions on practical training are defined in the program, which provides a unified integrated approach to the organization of practical industrial training, consistency and continuity of students' education. The internship program defines the goals and objectives of the internship, its timing, organization issues; takes into account the specifics of the specialty, the specifics of the practice bases and conditions for its passage.
In accordance with the curricula, various types of practices are conducted. Educational practice is conducted at the Institute. Industrial practice and pre-graduate practice - in third-party organizations (enterprises).
For the organization of industrial and pre-graduate practice of students, contracts have been concluded with the following enterprises and organizations: LLP "Ekibastuzskaya GRES-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov", JSC "Ekibastuzskaya GRES-2 Station", LLP "El-Nur-Service", LLP "Ekibastuzteploenergo", LLP "R.W.S. Wheelset" and others.
- Conducting independent work of students
Special attention at the department is paid to the organization of independent work of students, which is carried out in accordance with the work program of each discipline. Independent work is carried out in a variety of forms – writing essays, essays, analytical reports, presentations, testing, oral interviews. Interactive teaching methods and techniques are actively used in the implementation of the educational process: binary classes, problem lectures, end-to-end production situations, role-playing games. Technical means of teaching are widely used – interactive whiteboard, computer equipment, information resources.
