In the process of carrying out research and solving scientific and engineering problems in recent years, 7 patents for inventions have been applied for, which have been confirmed by the Committee on Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and registered in the form of "Patents for Invention", 1 dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Chemical Sciences has been defended, 8 textbooks have been published.
There is a scientific and methodological seminar at the department, where performers and heads of scientific directions talk about the results of their research.

Technology and utilization of secondary material resources of metallurgical production.
The technology of recycling waste processing of metallurgical and mining industries.
Processing of organic compounds based on acetylene.
Processing of the dusty illiquid fraction of calcium carbide (CAC), development of quantitative and qualitative chromatographic analysis of the products obtained.
Development of new hopper designs providing a steady flow of bulk materials.
Purification of coking gases from chemical coking products and their processing.
Prospective static analysis of gaseous, liquid and solid emissions from industrial regions.
Liquefaction of Sarykol drilling coal.
Development of theory and practice of preparation and metallurgical processing of ore raw materials and man-made materials.
Control of the movement of bulk materials in bunkers.
Obtaining high-quality iron-containing concentrates from secondary materials.
In the process of carrying out research and solving scientific and engineering problems in recent years, teachers have issued 18 textbooks and 5 monographs, 3 applications have been filed, 7 patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan for an invention have been obtained, 52 articles have been published, including in journals and collections of near and far abroad. The results of scientific research are introduced into the educational process, teachers and students speak at conferences. Students of the department's specialties took part in Republican competitions of research student papers, regional conferences. Students are involved in the implementation of research when completing term papers and diploma projects, as well as during practical training.
The department has concluded agreements with industrial enterprises on scientific and technical creative cooperation (JSC "Arcelor Mittal Temirtau", LLP "Ekibastuz GRES-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov", LLP "AIK"). Contracts with the enterprises of the region are concluded for work on the survey of industrial facilities, the development of options for the reconstruction of metallurgical equipment for the purpose of repair, including strengthening existing structural elements and their modernization.

Development of recommendations and scientifically based technical measures to maintain the quality and quantity monitoring system of magnetite ore on the basis of conveyor weight meters VKE-7678 and analyzer M-5 at key points of the processing process in working condition;
